What is RFID?
RFID, or radio frequency identification, uses electromagnetic fields to automatically pinpoint and trail the label attached to objects. RFID systems are made up of two parts: tags and receivers. Tags are placed on the object to be identified, and a receiver is used to collect information from the tags.
Types of RFID Tags
RFID tags can be grouped into three categories based on the range of frequencies they use to communicate data: low frequency (LF), high frequency (HF) and ultra-high frequency (UHF).
Low-frequency (LF) RFID tags: 30 KHz to 300 KHz
LF RFID tags have slower read rates and shorter read ranges than UHF or HF, but they’re less susceptible to interference by liquids and metals because they have a longer wavelength. Because of this, they’re often used in applications where an RFID label is affixed to a metal substrate, such as inventorying beer kegs or automobiles.
High-frequency (HF) RFID tags: 3 to 30 MHz
HF RFID tags have a longer read range and greater memory capacity, making them ideal for cataloguing library media or usage in theme park tracking wristbands. Near field communication (NFC) tags are a common type of smart label in the HF RFID category.
HF RFID tags use 13.56 MHz and can be ISO/IEC 14443 or ISO/IEC 15693 compliant. The ISO/IEC 14443 standard is described as "proximity" and covers reading distances of up to 12cm; this standard is used in most smartphones and tablets with NFC technology. The ISO/IEC 15693 standard is known as "vicinity," and it covers reading distances of up to 130cm.
Ultra-high-frequency (UHF) RFID tags: 300 MHz to 3GHz
UHF RFID tags are known as "supply chain frequency" tags because they are often less expensive than other types while yet delivering adequate scan ranges and rates. Item-level tracking, retail inventory control, and driving supply chain efficiencies are common applications.
The UHF RFID frequency was introduced most recently and is the ideal band in logistics and asset management. The reading distance is substantially longer than that of HF tags one, with reading ranges of up to 12-15 metres and, in exceptional situations, up to 30 metres.
Low-frequency (LF) RFID tags: 30 KHz to 300 KHz
In regards to an RFID tag, various terminologies are often used including RFID Inlays, RFID Labels & RFID Tags, but what’s the difference?
RFID Inlay:
RFID inlay is the most fundamental component of a label or tag. Inlays are offered in both dry and wet formats. These inlays are subsequently processed to create labels and tags for a range of purposes. The most common application for UHF inlays and labels is asset tracking at various stages of product life. Fixed and Handheld Readers are utilised for inventory management and in-and-out tracking.
RFID Label:
If an RFID Inlay in embedded into paper label, it is reference to as an RFID Label or Smart Label.
RFID Tag: :
If the RFID Chip and Tag Antenna are encapsulated (to protect the components or for ease-of-use case), then it’s referenced as an RFID Tag. Lists RFID tags -
Hard tags for all frequency ranges
Designed to meet specific requirements and compliant to LF, HF and UHF frequency standards, the key features of our hard tags include resistance to dust, chemicals and mechanical stress, as well as protection against temporary immersion in water. Selected hard tags also offer on-metal capabilities, high-temperature resistance or sensing capabilities for moisture or temperature.
RFID Hanging Tag
With the help of rfid companies in india, our special RFID Hang Tag are used for Material management or Cloth to enable RFID tracking. Each tag includes an RFID chip and antenna, are printable or pre-printed, and are enable quick and efficient RFID tagging.
RFID Jewellery Tag
RFID jewellery tags provided by Aeologic Technologies are contactless and could be written with different functions. These RFID jewellery labels especially are designed for use in jewellery market communities such as jewellery warehouse and jewellery shops management. It could meet perfectly the tracking requirement of the jewellery industry in terms of size, shape and ease of fixation.
RFID Tyre Tag
RFID Tyre tag applied on the outside sidewall of tyres and used in tracking and managing vehicle tyres. With these RFID solutions, RFID tyre tags are quite effective in managing large fleets of commercial vehicles to keep a record of a tyre’s history, thereby helping companies manage timely servicing and maintenance of vehicle tyres. These tags are designed to last an entire lifetime a tyre.
RFID Windshield Tag
UHF RFID Windshield Tags are designed for automatic vehicle identification applications such as electronic toll, parking and security. RFID Windshield Tags are the perfect solution for lifetime vehicle identification. Use on any vehicle that is subject to tracking, whether on toll roads, in secured parking lots, or gated residential communities.
Types of RFID Readers
- Fixed RFID Readers : Fixed RFID readers are specifically designed to meet high service standards and security in different business processes and standards. Fixed RFID Readers, as the name suggests, are fixed either at the entry gate /exit gate for monitoring people and vehicle movement.
- Integrated RFID readers : Integrated RFID readers combine RFID reader with an RFID antenna into one unit. This is very convenient, since it usually means easier installation, space savings, elimination of unnecessary antenna cables and often better esthetics.
- Handheld RFID Readers : Handheld RFID readers are specifically used for reading the tags and labels with a wire or Bluetooth connecting the hardware to devices like mobile or computer for tracking the items. These types of RFID Readers are specifically used in the retail or warehouses or at heavy industries.

Why Companies Are Adopting RFID Technology?
- RFID technology has been proven to be a helping hand in transforming businesses across a plethora of sectors like Manufacturing, Automobiles, Transportation, Healthcare and many more. In the current times, RFID Technology is very common in almost every possible industry.
- It simplifies the complicated work in a simple and flexible manner. In the last few years, RFID has been used by many industries that refused to adopt this technology earlier because they felt it was very costly but now it’s even cost effective so any small-scale industry can also use RFID based tracking.
